About Burt’s Bees
Burt’s Bees originally started business back in 1984 as candle makers. After deciding to make beauty products instead of candles, the iconic Beeswax Lip Balm was born! It quickly became a best seller! The brand and company expanded over the next few years and began to focus more on personal care, and then also on natural beauty. Their first big break came when in 1998 one of their products, Lemon Cuticle Butter Cream, won thirty awards! Which drove them to concentrate more on this side of the business. Over the next few years the company develop more gorgeous products, i.e. lip balms, body washes and creams, and also developed their philosophy.
The Burt's Bees philosophy is titled 'The Greater Good', as the company's philosophy is formed from three main values, which are; 'good for you', 'good for us' and 'good for all' which also links into their caring nature towards people and the planet.
The Burt's Bees culture stems from a phrase used in one of their first ever catalogues. These wise words were "What's right isn't always popular. What's popular isn't always right."
